SUMMARY

LaunchPad is an open project registry and showcase platform created by the ELITES Communications Associate for Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Data Science (BSDS) student builders in the ITDS Department at Bulacan State University, Sarmiento Campus, powered through the ELITES student organization.

• Preserving Innovation: Capstone projects and personal hackathon prototypes deserve a permanent, curated home instead of being buried in private folders after semester defenses.
• Student Builder Portfolios: Students earn permanent vanity URLs (/u/[username]) and rich project detail pages with working demo and repo links to show tech recruiters.
• 100% Student IP Ownership: Students retain full intellectual property ownership. LaunchPad claims zero rights over student code or inventions.
• End-of-Term Merch Awards: To foster healthy peer inspiration, top-voted student builders earn physical term merch awards funded and coordinated through ELITES.

01. THE MISSION: SOLVING THE "BURIED CAPSTONE" PROBLEM

Across universities everywhere, students pour thousands of hours into developing sophisticated software, machine learning algorithms, mobile apps, and IoT hardware prototypes for their capstone and semester requirements. Yet, all too often, once the grades are submitted and graduation concludes, those codebases gather digital dust in forgotten Google Drives or private GitHub repositories.

LaunchPad was built to break that cycle.

We provide a public, indexed platform where student builds are permanently celebrated, easily browsed by incoming freshman batches seeking inspiration, and proudly referenced in student resumes when applying for internships and software engineering roles.

ELITES is the premier student tech community for IT and Data Science students at Bulacan State University, Sarmiento Campus (University Heights, Brgy. Through technical workshops, developer mentorship, campus hackathons, and open source collaboration, ELITES empowers students to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world production engineering.

03. TWO TRACKS: PERSONAL VS TEAM

LaunchPad intentionally recognizes projects across exactly two tracks:

• Track 01: Personal Builds: Solo projects, weekend experiments, CLI utilities, games, open-source npm packages, or portfolio tools built independently by an individual student hacker.
• Track 02: Team Capstones: Multidisciplinary semester projects, thesis systems, community solutions, and hardware prototypes crafted collaboratively with credited student co-authors.

04. BUILT WITH MODERN PRODUCTION ARCHITECTURE

LaunchPad itself is built as an open demonstration of modern web engineering:

• Full Server Component Hierarchy: Built on Next.js 15 App Router with TypeScript, shipping minimal client-side JavaScript for blistering page loads.
• Postgres Row Level Security: Direct Supabase integration with zero intermediate ORM bloat, enforcing data isolation at the database layer.
• Minecraft-Inspired Voxel Aesthetic: Custom 8-bit voxel clouds, stepped mountain ridges, and pixelarticons celebrating gaming and maker culture.
